NEWS & UPDATES
On this page you will find blog-style entries with the latest updates about this site, ideas for additional content, and other Caravan-related information.

August 28, 2024
Having been inspired by a website I used to run back in the early 2000's, I am going to slightly change the style of updates here on the site. Instead of "blog-style" entries, I think I will change over to dated entries. Today I added in the narratives for 208B0301 through 208B0400 and added four photos from Henk Wadman.

AUGUST UPDATES
August 22, 2024

While not updating the site much this month so far, I have been doing a lot in the way of collecting and compiling data behind the scenes. Over the years I have tried different ways of doing this. At the moment I am working on compiling specific airframe information into individual aircraft history pages so that all the information is in one place. This has its pros and cons, but I believe it will be best for my workflow.

I have copied in the narratives for the 208B0200-series numbers today and added two photos from Henk Wadman of N2070Z at Rotterdam. More to come in the days ahead.

WORK ON THE FLEET PAGE CONTINUES...
July 30, 2024

The focus of my work recently has been to continue populating the FLEET page with the airframe data from the manuscript document I used for The Caravan Guidebook 2023. As you can imagine, there is a lot of data to go through and insert into this site. I also am continuing to collect and compile new information in my records, the majority of which will eventually make it to this site. Thank you for your patience as I continue with this project!

BACK FROM ANOTHER PROJECT
June 5, 2024

Over these past few weeks I have been working on a different project. With that work somewhat finalized now, I can return to work on this site. The Caravan research has continued during the hiatus, so keep an eye out for updates!

12 CARAVANS DELIVERED IN FIRST QUARTER
May 2, 2024

When Textron released their numbers for the first quarter of 2024, they mentioned that there had been 12 Caravans delivered during that time frame.

25 MILLION FLIGHT HOURS
April 10, 2024

Textron Aviation announced today that the Caravan fleet has now surpassed 25 million flight hours!

AIRFRAME STATUS LINE
March 25, 2024

I have started adding a line under the individual Caravan entries on the Fleet page that gives a current status of that airframe. I am hoping to be able to grow this and keep tabs on Caravan movements. Look for more to come!

SITE UPDATES AND FIRST DONATION
March 21, 2024

Site updates have been continuing along. I have still been concentrating mostly on adding airframe narratives from The Caravan Guidebook manuscript. Earlier today I sent my first donation prompted by this site to the Internet Archive, in particular for their tremendous work with the Wayback Machine. This has been a valuable resource for my Caravan research and I am glad to be able to help out, even in a small way.

BACK...AGAIN
March 7, 2024

I am back once again after dealing with a death in the family and having to put our dog down this past week. Barring other major life events, I should be back to regular updating of the site. Stay tuned!

ANOTHER PAUSE TO SITE UPDATES
February 13, 2024

Yet again I have some family issues that will be taking some time, so updates will be on hold for a bit. Thanks for your patience!

A NEW PAGE!
January 24, 2024

Two entries on the same day? Yep, that's right! Today I've started a new page covering known Caravan operators, both past and present. The data comes from a list I had compiled for an earlier iteration of this site and have updated and formatted. You can find it listed as Operators on the menu at the top of the page. If you currently operate a Caravan or know of an operator that should be on the list, please let me know. Another change to the site today is the inclusion of a short guide to the content of 208caravan.com on the home page.

TEXTRON ANNOUNCES CARAVAN DELIVERIES FOR 2023
January 24, 2024

Today Textron announced their fourth quarter results and yearly summary for 2023. Deliveries totaled 79 Caravans last year: 19 in the first quarter, 21 in the second, 14 in the third, and 25 in the fourth.

BACK IN THE SADDLE
January 22, 2024

I've returned from dealing with some family medical issues and am looking forward to getting back to updating this site! While the updates I mentioned in the previous post will continue to be the main source of new information, I would like to also grow the other pages on the site as well. Check out The Caravan page for a newly-added list of Caravan conversions. If memory serves, Textron will be releasing their official delivery numbers for the year within a few days, and there are a number of recent accidents and incidents that I would like to get entered as well. I'd love to hear from you and your history with the Caravan or your interest in it. Drop me a line sometime!

SITE UPDATES
January 10, 2024

Updates to the site are continuing. I am currently working on moving the data from my manuscript of The Caravan Guidebook 2023 onto the website. As you can imagine, there is a lot of data to process, so this will likely be the bread-and-butter of the site updates for the foreseeable future. That being said, there will likely be a brief pause in updates for a week or two as there are some health issues in the family. As always, thank you for your interest in the Caravan and this site!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
January 2, 2024

Happy New Year and welcome to 2024! After a short break for the holidays, work on 208caravan has begun again. I have made the decision to use this section of the site to feature "from your webmaster" content, organized by dated, blog-style entries. The intent is to provide a place where you can discover the latest site updates, my thoughts and ideas about both the site and the Caravan itself, and general Caravan-related information. Specific details like incidents, accidents, registration data, new serial numbers, these will be added as time allows in the applicable section of the Fleet page.
